Antique Creme Glaze Vasetto
An antique hand-thrown vasetto or confit jar that was traditionally used for preserving vegetables. anchovies, or sardines in olive oil. This charming pot has a unique, organic surface which has eroded with age to obtain that magic patina that only occurs with use over time. The rustic piece has a top glaze in a glossy buttermilk hue which is offset by the raw, clay base. The half glaze was a hygienic (and economical) addition rather than purely decorative, to be wiped clean easily after use. It was also a less expensive technique used rather than glazing the entire vessel. Today, this piece is perfect to add some farmhouse charm to any space and would be ideal as a vase for fresh or dried flowers.
Found in Lecce
the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
Dimensions: H27cm x W17cm x D17cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
