Antique Fluted Spout Hand Painted Vietri Vase
An exuberantly hand painted ceramic vase with two sinuous handles and a fluted spout. The unique piece originates from Vietri - a small town on the Amalfi coast known for its age old ceramic tradition. This hand crafted vessel dating back to the late 1800s with its elegant form was most likely used for ceremonies or to hold holy water, as vases with fluted spouts were usually created for this purpose. The abstract hand painted all over motif comes in typical colours found in Vietri ceramics - sunflower yellow, sea blue, magenta and turquoise blue set against the ivory glaze. The antique vase features two beautifully detailed double handles with hand painted stripes. Today, this one of a kind ‘vasetto’ would make a lovely vase for fresh or dried flowers.
Found in Lecce
the Baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
Dimensions: H20cm x W23cm x D16cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration.
