Antique Green Glaze Ripple Jug
This uniquely shaped jug from Puglia is called a ‘bucale’ in local dialect and dates back to the first half of the 19th century. Seen here in a glossy vibrant green glaze, the jug features a distinctive rippled effect body and pinched spout, and would have been primarily used by a family for wine or water during meal times. Its ergonomic proportions make it lovely to hold and its distinctive glaze is typical of local antique Pugliese pottery. This medium-sized, handmade ceramic jug would make the perfect injection of colour to any table setting or simply used for fresh flowers.
Found in Ostuni
the charming hilltop town of the valle d’Itria known as the città bianca (or ‘white city’).
Dimensions: H20cm x W17.5cm x D14cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
