Antique Half Glaze Confit Pot
An antique, handmade confit pot with an elegant spherical body and handles, and charming surface detailing. The rustic pot with its wonderful iridescent green half glaze features the potters thumb prints that decorate the upper surface, adding unique character to the piece. This confit pot originates from the southern Italian region of Puglia and was originally used for preserving foods such as anchovies, sardines, figs or olives in olive oil. This type of rural ceramic pottery was typically only partially glazed (at the rim for hygiene purposes) as it was expensive to glaze the entire pot. Lend some rustic farmhouse character to your home or space which can be used as a vase, storage vessel or simply as a decorative display piece.
Found in Ostuni
the charming hilltop town of the Valle d’Itria known as ‘la città bianca’ (or white city).
Dimensions: H20cm x W18cm x D18cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
