Antique Hand Painted Blue Floral Bowl
This large, hand thrown bowl features a very charming hand painted blue floral design. Dating back to the mid 1800s, the elegantly designed bowl showcases the skill and attention to detail of the artisan/potter. The antique handmade piece features a large central flower and smaller flowers scattered around the bowl. It has a wonderful colour combination of the vivid blue flower and contrasting green stem, set against a creamy hue of the base. What makes this piece stand out is that magical patina brought about authentically by the passing of time, and years of daily use. There is a makers mark at the bottom of the bowl, however it is difficult to decipher, but the antique bowl is most likely of central Italian origin. This deep bowl would have taken pride of place in a family home and today would make a lovely addition to a table setting, as decorative display or a great centrepiece for fruit.
