Antique Hand Painted Bowl with Handles
An antique hand thrown terracotta bowl dating back to the late 1800s. The wonderful piece with its handles, raw outer edge and internal glaze, is truly one of a kind. The abstract hand painted motif that decorates the bowl internally in green and orange is set against a vivid yellow glaze. Despite the abstract pattern that decorates this and other antique crockery from the region, the bowl would have been used by families for everyday, domestic use. The old terracotta pottery of Puglia is thick and robust, and has a lovely handmade, rustic feel to it. Today this antique bowl is perfect to inject some farmhouse charm to any space, and would make a great centrepiece for fruit.
Found in Grottaglie
the small Salento town famous for its age old ceramic craft.
Dimensions: H8cm x W30cm x D25cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
