Antique Ivory Pot with Handle

€150.00
Sold

A large, rustic ceramic ‘vaso da notte’ pot with one handle and a well loved patina. This type of domestic pottery represents the finest and most expensive kind of ‘ceramica rustica’ - with its ivory-coloured glaze known as ‘robba bianca’, it is produced with a pewter glaze and is twice fired. What makes this antique piece particularly unique are the drips of mustard glaze - most likely a mistake during the firing process, that gives it its own charming individuality. This antique pot would be ideal as a decorative display piece or unique vessel for storage.

Found in Lecce

the Baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.

Dimensions: H19cm x W24cm x D20.5cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
