Antique Rustic Terracotta Bowl
A very charming buttermilk glaze bowl that is typical of Pugliese ceramics. Dating back to the early 1900s, the well loved piece shows its characteristic signs of age with a wonderful patina, and faded remnants of hand painted blue lines around the inner rim. It was utilised for domestic use up until the 1950s/60s where it would have fed a family at meal times. The old terracotta pottery from Puglia, like this plate, is thick and robust, and has a lovely handmade, rustic feel. This antique piece would make a lovely addition to the kitchen, as decorative display or a great centrepiece on a table for fruit.
