Antique Terracotta Mold
An antique handmade terracotta mold in a unique two-tone colour combination, that was most likely used in local cooking to form cold dishes like cassata, terrines and jelly. The outside is glazed in a vivid green whilst the inside is glazed in an ochre brown. The rustic form has that perfectly imperfect farmhouse charm, with its handmade fluted rim, heavily ribbed edge and abstractly stamped underside. The rustic patina is testament to its daily use as a practical domestic item. It was originally stored hanging on a kitchen wall using the holes as seen on the bottom, making it ready to mount. This rare, collectable piece would be perfect to inject colour and add some country charm to a kitchen.
Found in Lecce
the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
Dimensions: H10.5cm x W22cm x D22cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
