Antique Two Handle Pot

An antique confit pot with an elegant form and a luminous buttermilk glaze. This charming pot was made in the early 1900s and was originally used for preserving foods such as anchovies, sardines, figs or olives in olive oil. The handmade piece has a half glaze in a glossy buttermilk hue offset by the raw, clay base. The half glaze was a hygienic (and economical) addition rather than purely decorative, to be wiped clean easily after use. It was also a less expensive technique used rather than glazing the entire vessel. The antique pot features that magical patina that comes about from many years of use. Add some rustic farmhouse charm to your home or space, with this piece that could work as a storage vessel for utensils or paint brushes, or as a vase for a small bunch of fresh flowers.

Found in Ostuni

the enchanting hilltop town of the valle d’Itria known as la città bianca (or ‘white city’).

Dimensions: H16.5cm x W17cm x D13cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
