Antique White Pinched Spout Jug
Antique hand-thrown jug in a soft creamy white glaze that is elegantly refined in its simplicity, highlighting the skill of the artisan potter. Found in Ostuni and belonging to a noble family, the beautiful pitcher dates back to the early 1800s. Traditionally used for wine at mealtimes, the striking piece took pride of place in the family’s dining credenza. The jug features an 'inverted human nose' shape for its lip (or pinched spout) that is typical of pitchers from the southern Italian region, as well as a wonderfully intricate handle and decorative relief details encircling the piece.
