This hand thrown bowl known as a ‘pendriale’ dates back to the early 1900s from the southern Italian region of Puglia. The ceramic vessel was originally used as a ‘wash basin’, most commonly to wash fruit and vegetables with its large border or lip which made it easy to pick up and handle. The rustic bowl features a charming, glazed interior in a creamy buttermilk hue, which is a rare find. The large bowl has aged beautifully with that authentic, magical patina from years of daily use, with the external clay unglazed and on display. The antique vessel is perfect to add some farmhouse charm to a kitchen or table setting, or as a unique storage vessel. Add impact with the farmhouse bowls in varying hues and sizes, as seen in the images.

Found in Lecce

the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.

Dimensions: H19cm x W34cm x D34cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
