Large Serving Platter with Scalloped Edge
A large antique handmade charger with delicately scalloped edge that is shallow in depth. Traditionally Pugliese in its rustic simplicity, and whilst it is not heavily decorated it has a touch of the Baroque with its gentle scalloping. Dating back to the late 1800s, the soft buttermilk glaze is elegantly simple and is reminiscent of the Lecce stone and its luminous colour. The old pottery from Puglia, like this plate has a rustic handmade, farmhouse feel, and traditionally would have been used as a centre table dish to serve at Sunday lunch. This piece would make a lovely addition to the kitchen, as decorative display or a great centrepiece on a table for fruit.
Also available in a matching medium-sized plate, as seen in the photos.
Found in Lecce
the capital of the Salento famous for its Baroque architecture.
Dimensions: H6cm x W42cm x D42cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration.
