Large Vintage Mustard Glaze Bowl with Handles
A unique hand-thrown vintage bowl with a vivacious golden glaze radiating that Mediterranean glow. The rustic piece of pottery originates from Grottaglie, a town in southern Puglia renowned for its ceramic tradition. The large vintage bowl would have been used for everyday, domestic purposes and features two small handles for manoeuvring. It is glazed internally in the rich mustard glaze, and left raw externally. The old stoneware of Puglia is thick and robust like this piece, and has a lovely handmade, rustic feel. The vintage vessel has that special patina from daily use, that only the passing of time can authentically bring about. Today it would be ideal as a centrepiece for fruit and/or vegetables to add some country charm to a farmhouse kitchen or table, or as a unique storage vessel. Create impact with the matching smaller bowl, as seen in the images.
Found in Lecce
