This antique confit pot with its elegant rotund form and curved handle, features a wonderful iridescent green half glaze. The handmade pot dates back to the mid 1800s and originates from Calvello, a town in Basilicata known for its age old ceramic craft. The rustic piece called a ‘salaturu’ was originally used for preserving food in salt brine, such as olives, anchovies or sardines. This type of rural ceramic pottery was typically only half or partially glazed, as it was expensive to glaze the entire pot. The hand crafted vessel has that magic patina that only years of daily use can bring about. Add some rustic farmhouse charm to your home or space with the other matching pieces as seen in the images.

Found in Ostuni

the charming hilltop town of the valle d’Itria known as la città bianca (or ‘white city’).

Dimensions: H26cm x W25cm x D24cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
