A very unique set of hand painted wall-hanging ceramic planters or flower pots. They were created by C.A.S. - Ceramiche Artistica Solimene (founded in 1937) originating from Vietri Italy, a small town on the Amalfi coast known for its age old ceramic tradition. The hand crafted hanging plant pots with their conical shape and fluted opening, were most likely made in the Gambone era (1940s). Ceramics created under Guido Gambone’s direction for C.A.S. were characterised by farming and herding scenes and inspired by local life and tradition, with a folkloric and naïve flavour. The vessels would have been created as a gift for a couple on their wedding day - and feature a newly wed couple with depictions of a traditional rural life. Both wall hanging pots can be hung with the wire on the back, as seen in the images. They also feature ‘Solimene, Vietri Italy’ signed at the back, with a limited edition number (400). These rare pieces would make a lovely addition to any home, indoors or out, as decorative display items, or used as originally intended - to hold flowers or plants.
