XL Antique Green Glazed 'Limmu' Bowl
This extra large hand thrown 'limmu,' as it is known in local dialect, originates from Puglia (Italy’s heel). It was primarily used to wash clothing as well as desalinate cod and wash vegetables. The robust receptacle was also used in a potter’s workshop where the liquid glaze was placed inside the vessel, into which the raw pottery was dipped, ready for firing. This unique limmu comes with 8 small earlobe-shaped handles near the rim, to make it easier to pick up and handle. What makes this antique vessel particularly beautiful is the deep green glazed interior. The large bowl has that magical patina brought about authentically from years of daily use, with the external clay unglazed and on display. The antique piece of pottery is perfect to add some farmhouse charm to a kitchen or table setting, or as a unique storage vessel.
