Antique Abstract Amphora
An antique hand-thrown amphora with a beautiful form and remarkably abstract surface glaze set against a buttermilk glaze. This amphora has been used for many years as a vessel for wine or olive oil and dates back to the early 1900s. The antique vessel has a unique patina and immense character and charm, with its spontaneous mustard drip pattern most likely caused by an accident during the finishing glaze phase. This ‘mistake’ is what renders it a one-of-a-kind-piece and today can be used as a bud vase or as a decorative display piece injecting some country charm to any home or space.
Found in Alessano
the charming small Salento town home to some magnificent noble palazzi and important families who resided in and around the town.
Dimensions: H31cm x W19cm x D19cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
