Antique Blue Rim Farmhouse Plate
A charming hand painted plate that is typical of Pugliese ceramics, with a minimalism that makes it easy to coordinate with any space or setting. Dating back to the late 1800s, the antique plate would have been primarily used by a family at mealtimes. The medium size plate features hand painted lines in ink blue encircling the edges of the plate, set against a milky white glaze. The old farmhouse pottery from Puglia, like this antique plate, is thick and robust, and has a lovely handmade feel. The well loved piece shows its characteristic signs of age with a wonderful patina, and would have been regularly used for domestic purposes up until at least the mid 1900s. The plate would make a lovely addition to the kitchen adding some country charm, especially when pared with the matching vase and ‘zuppiera’ as seen in the images.
Found in Lecce
the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
Dimensions: H5cm x W29cm x D29cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration.
