Antique Calabrese Pharmacy Pot
A charming antique ceramic pot that dates back to the mid 1800s and originates from the southern Italian region of Calabria. This handmade pot was primarily used by pharmacies to contain spices, herbal products or medicinal preparations such as ointments, powders and electuaries. The small pot features an abstract hand painted motif in verdant green, set against a buttermilk glaze, to identify its contents. This antique piece of pottery is a truly unique find especially when pared with the accompanying matching mug, as seen in the images. Today, with their well-loved patina, they would make the perfect decorative display pieces injecting some farmhouse charm to any space or home.
