Antique Créme Glaze Bowl with Handles
A unique hand-thrown antique bowl originating from Grottaglie, a town in southern Puglia renowned for its ceramic tradition. The antique bowl would have been used for everyday, domestic purposes and features two small handles for manoeuvring. The rustic piece of pottery is glazed internally in a creamy buttermilk hue, and left raw externally. This highlights its special patina brought about authentically from daily use and the passing of time. The old stoneware of Puglia is thick and robust like this piece, and has a lovely handmade, rustic feel. Today it would be ideal as a centrepiece for fruit and/or vegetables to add some country charm to a farmhouse kitchen or table, or as a unique storage vessel. Create impact with the matching larger bowl, as seen in the images.
Found in Lecce
the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
Dimensions: H14.5cm x W31cm x D28cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
