Antique Green Glaze Pot with Handles
A unique green glaze pot with two side handles that originates from the southern Italian region of Calabria. Dating back to the early 1900s, this large vessel would have been originally used for storing food for the family. The large pot is externally glazed in a deep green, and internally glazed in a buttermilk cream. The hand thrown ceramic pot has that wonderful robust form made of thick clay that is quintessential of old Calabrese pottery. The handles feature thumb indents so it’s contents could be lifted and moved with ease. Today, this antique piece would make a wonderful decorative display piece or storage vessel, injecting some country charm to any home or space.
