Antique Rustic Green Glaze Pot with Handles

€540.00

A very rare green glazed pot with two side handles that originates from the southern Italian region of Puglia. Dating back to the early 1800s, this rustic vessel which is internally glazed, would have been originally used for storing food for the family - such as aubergines, peppers, or anchovies in brine or olive oil. The farmhouse pot has a magical patina brought about from years of daily use and the passing of time - with a beautiful pistachio green hue that makes it a one of a kind piece. The hand crafted ceramic confit pot has an elegantly rotund form that belies its utilitarian function as a domestic pot, intended for everyday use. Today, this antique vessel would make a wonderful vase for fresh or dried flowers, or a standalone accent adding some country charm to any home or space.

Found in Lecce

the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.

Dimensions: H26cm x W28cm x D24cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen. To utilise as a vase, it is recommended to use a separate internal water vase or vials for live stems.
