This antique and rare piece of terracotta pottery was originally used as a vessel for transferring liquid or food (like a ladle) from a pot and conveying it to another vessel. The hand thrown ‘jug’ dates back to the early 1900s and originates from the southern Italian region of Puglia. The antique vessel is unique due to its surface glaze with its splatter of pistachio green set against a creamy base, creating an abstract effect and rendering it ‘modern’ in aesthetic. The wonderful colour combination, and hand crafted quality, give this vessel infinite charm. The jug has a well-loved patina that renders it all the more enchanting, brought about from daily use over the years. Today this antique vessel would make an ideal vase for fresh flowers or simply as a decorative display piece. Add some farmhouse charm when paring with the matching items as seen in the images.
