Antique Hand Painted 4-handle Pot
This antique terracotta ‘vasettu’ was made for storing food and is typical of domestic pots from the southern regions of Puglia, Basilicata and Calabria. Its spontaneously applied yet minimal hand painted floral motif on both sides gives it an abundance of character and a light and jovial feel. The 4 elegantly formed handles, beautiful rotund form and whimsical colours that are set against the milky white and earthy ochre base, add to its beauty and charm, as does its aged characteristics. This historic example of pots used for domestic use, would today make the perfect decorative centre piece in any home.
