Antique Hand Painted Amphora
An antique hand-thrown amphora with a spirited hand painted, abstract motif on both sides, and beautifully formed handles that are a fluid extension of the spout, rendering it truly unique. Originally used for wine or water to keep it fresh for farmers working the land on those long, hot summer days, the sunflower yellow glaze on top was used for hygiene purposes to wipe clean, rather than simply decorative. This original terracotta piece has a unique surface texture and wonderful patina from daily use. Today, it can be used as a bud vase or as a decorative display piece.
