A charming antique ceramic pot that dates back to the mid 1800s and originates from the southern Italian region of Calabria. This pot would have been primarily used for capers in olive oil or to store the family’s mother yeast. It features a hand painted green motif on one side - most likely signifying the tree of life - the bringer of good fortune and a bountiful harvest to the largely rural folk of the time. The uniquely and spirited abstract decoration in its vivid green is set against a soft buttermilk glaze. This handmade piece of pottery with its well-loved patina has an elegant form with its two handles and oval shape. It would be ideal as a decorative display piece to compliment any space, and create impact with the matching (smaller) piece as seen in the images.

Found in Ostuni

the enchanting hill top town of the valle d’Itria known as ‘la città bianca’ (or white city).

Dimensions: H12cm x W22cm x D19cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
