Antique Hand Painted One Handle Pot
A charming antique ceramic pot that dates back to the early 1900s and originates from the southern Italian region of Calabria. This handmade pot was primarily used for serving food, or for storing the family’s mother yeast. The abstract hand painted motif that encircles the pot, in a grass green and mustard yellow, is set against a soft yellow glaze, and perhaps reminiscent of spring time and the promise of a bountiful harvest - important to the rural folk of the time. This unique piece of pottery with its elegant form and handle with ‘thumb rest’, would be ideal as a decorative display piece or storage vessel.
Found in Ostuni
the enchanting hill top town of the valle d’Itria known as ‘la città bianca’ (or white city).
Dimensions: H12cm x W21cm x D17.5cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
