Antique Hand Painted Pharmacy Vase
A charmingly rustic vase historically used for pharmaceuticals and originates from the southern Italian region of Calabria. Dating back to the mid-1800s, this hand thrown ceramic vessel was used to store herbs and spices and ointments for medicinal purposes. It features free spirited, hand painted stripes in varying widths of blue, green and ochre brown set against a white glaze. The wonderful patina is consistent with age and use and shows signs of wear, which gives the jar its immense character.
