Antique Hand Painted Pot
This cylinder shaped ceramic pot with hand painted bands of celestial blue and earthy burgundy reds set against a buttermilk glaze, is very characteristic of the small Salento town of San Pietro in Lama. The rustic pot is internally glazed as it was originally used to preserve food. The antique piece has been well loved and used in an Italian home for many years, and shows signs of wear that add to its charming character. Today, it makes a lovely decorative display piece, a vase for fresh flowers (best to use an internal liner if pouring water straight in) or as an indoor or outdoor planter.
Found in San Pietro in Lama
a small town in Puglia famous for its ceramic craft.
Dimensions: H24.5cm x W20cm x D20cm
