Medium Serving Plate with Scalloped Edge
A medium-sized handmade shallow serving plate with a unique scalloped design around the rim. Traditionally Pugliese in its rustic simplicity, and whilst it is not heavily decorated it has a touch of the Baroque with its gentle scalloping. Dating back to the late 1800s, the buttermilk glaze is elegantly simple and is reminiscent of the Lecce stone and its luminous colour. The old terracotta pottery from Puglia, like this plate has a rustic handmade, farmhouse feel, this smaller plate would have been used to serve meats or vegetable side dishes. This lovely plate would make a lovely addition to the kitchen, as decorative display or a great centrepiece on a table for fruit.
Also available in a matching large platter, as seen in the photos.
Found in Lecce
the capital of the Salento famous for its Baroque architecture.
Dimensions: H5cm x W27cm x D27cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration.
