This antique confit pot has a truly magical, minimal and spirited hand painted motif adorning the front. The tree of life design has been rendered in a deep mustard colour set against a buttermilk glaze, that reveals its earthy clay base at the bottom. These confit pots were made in the early 1900s and the abstract tree of life decoration signifies good fortune and longevity. Originally used for preserving foods such as anchovies, sardines, figs or olives in olive oil, often with a handmade wooden lid, this XL example has a wonderful robust form to it. Today, it would be ideal as a vase for fresh or dried flowers, or as a decorative display piece to add farmhouse charm to any home or space.

Found in Ostuni

the charming hilltop town of the valle d’Itria known as la città bianca (or ‘white city’).

Dimensions: H32cm x W25cm x D22cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
