Antique Rustic Blue 2-Handle Vase

A charmingly rustic vase with 2 handles and a unique turquoise blue patina. Originating from Puglia, the hand-thrown terracotta pot was most likely used for watering the vines in a Pugliese vineyard in the early 1900s. What makes this vessel a stand out piece, is the turquoise surface that has eroded over time exposing the raw terracotta underneath. This unique patina is due to the reaction of the sulphur used in the spray, and adds to its perfectly-aged charm. Along with the elegant proportions the 2-handle vessel has a lot of character with its ‘perfectly imperfect’ exterior testament to its years of daily use and exposure. Today the farmhouse-style pot would make the perfect vase for fresh flowers or as a decorative centrepiece adding some country charm to any home or space.

Found in Ostuni

the charming hilltop town of the valle d’Itria known as ‘la città bianca’ (or white city).

Dimensions: H37cm x W24cm x D21cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
