Antique Rustic Blue Amphora
A particularly unique amphora made in the early 1900s in Puglia with a wonderful handmade quality. What makes this amphora a stand out piece, is the turquoise blue colouring that has eroded over time exposing the raw clay underneath, and its pop of red at the base - adding a modern touch to this antique vessel. Along with the elegant, elongated proportions of the handles and spherical body, this traditional piece has a lot of character due to its aged patina. This rustic amphora was historically used to hold wine or water, where farmers would tie the vessel to a tree to keep it cool on those long hot summer days, whilst working the land. Today this large amphora would make the perfect decorative centre piece, adding some farmhouse charm to any home or space.
Found in Ostuni
the charming hilltop town of the valle d’Itria known as ‘la città bianca’ (or white city).
Dimensions: H41cm x W24cm x D24cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
