Antique Rustic Terracotta Amphora
An antique hand-thrown terracotta amphora, with a beautifully formed robust body and handles that are a fluid extension of the spout. Originally these amphoras were used to keep wine or water fresh for farmers working the land on those long, hot summer days. This original piece dating back to the late 1800s, has a raw surface texture and well-loved patina brought about from daily use. The enchanting red ochre glaze that rims the spout, and visible drops on the main body, add to its immense character. Today, it can be used as a decorative display piece to add some farmhouse charm to any space.
Found in Lecce
the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
Dimensions: H26cm x W22cm x D20cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
