Antique Rustic Turquoise Amphora
A rare amphora dating back to the mid 1800s and originating from the southern Italian region of Puglia. This rustic hand thrown farmhouse-style vessel was historically used to hold wine. What makes this antique amphora a unique piece, is the clay’s raw finish which has naturally and gradually evolved over time with oxidation into the turquoise blue hue. Along with the elegant proportions and sculptural handles, this historic piece has a lot of character with its aged patina that only the passing of time and daily use can authentically bring about. Today the large vessel would make the perfect decorative centre piece, adding some country charm to any home indoors or out, especially when pared with the matching amphora as see in the images.
Found in Lecce
the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
Dimensions: H38cm x W30cm x D30cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
