Antique Twisted Handle Green Amphora
A one-of-a-kind hand thrown amphora originating from the southern Italian region of Calabria. This antique amphora with its unique sculptural form was primarily used for holding wine. What makes the amphora stand out are the hand crafted twisted handles and squiggly lines hand painted in pastel and deep green - creating an abstract effect and rendering the vessel ‘modern’ in aesthetic. The wonderful colour combination of greens give this ceramic vessel infinite charm, as does its well-loved patina brought about authentically from years of daily use. Today this rare piece of pottery, which could be likened to a work of art in itself, would be the perfect display piece ready to add charm to any home or space.
Found in Lecce
the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
Dimensions: H26cm x W21cm x D17cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration.
