Antique XL Hand Painted Jug
Antique hand-thrown jug with a lovely abstract motif rendering it particularly unique along with its decorative mix of glazes. The hand painted blue and pink designs are light and almost watercolour in appearance, reminiscent of the two seas, whilst the yellow is thick and opaque, and perhaps representing the intense Salento sun. Wine and water jugs from Puglia usually have the most extensive decorations and this piece dates back to the early 1900s and most likely from the Grottaglie region which is famous for its ceramic craft. Today, this wonderful piece with its truly one of a kind pattern would be ideal as a vase for fresh flowers or as a decorative display piece.
Found in Brindisi
an important maritime city in Roman times and its portal to the East.
Dimensions: H28cm x W18cm x D15cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
