Antique Yellow Glaze Amphora
An antique hand-thrown amphora with beautifully formed handles that are a fluid extension of the spout that renders it truly unique. Originally used for wine or water to keep it fresh for farmers working the land on those hot, long summer days, the lovely sunflower yellow glaze at the top was used for hygiene purposes to wipe clean rather than simply decorative. This original piece has a unique surface texture and wonderful patina from daily use. Today, it can be used as a bud vase or as a decorative display piece.
Found in Taurisano
a small town in southern Salento
Dimensions: H33cm x W19cm x D17cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
