Large Antique Hand Painted Confit Pot
This charming antique confit pot dating back to the 1800s is from the southern Italian region of Campania. It was originally used for preserving foods such as anchovies, sardines, figs, olives, or other local delicacies, in olive oil. This antique confit pot is particularly rare due to its colour combination (the sea blue against the glossy ivory glaze), and the hand painted blue pattern on the handles. The large ceramic vessel also features blue banding around the rim and top section. The hand thrown pot has that well aged patina from years of daily use, giving the antique piece buckets of charm. Today it would make an ideal vessel for fresh flowers or simply to inject some farmhouse charm to any home or space.
Found in Lecce
the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
