Large Antique Amphora with Swirl Pattern
An antique amphora from the Puglia region with an elegant elongated shape and unglazed surface highlighting its hand-thrown form. Dating back to the early 1900s, originally this large farmhouse vessel would have been used for holding wine or olive oil. The amphora features a discreet swirl pattern hand painted in black around the top edge making it a unique piece. The clay has a wonderful earthy quality with its raw surface texture and that patina brought about by years of daily use. Today this one of a kind vessel would make the perfect display piece to add some farmhouse charm to any home, indoors or out, especially when pared with the matching amphora as seen in the images.
Found in Lecce
the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
Dimensions: H53cm x W28cm x D27cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
