Large Antique Passata Bowl
Passata Bowls, also known as 'limmi,' originate from Puglia and they take the form of rustic handmade terracotta bowls. The beautifully decorative element comes from the cream glaze on the interior, which is splattered with vibrant green/ turquoise paint with external terracotta unglazed and on display. This early 20th-century homespun terracotta bowl, originally created to make tomato passata, is made of rustic earthenware on the exterior and a charming, glazed interior of spotted vivid pesto-hued green over a deep ochre-coloured base which has aged beautifully. Since they were made by hand, each is a unique piece with its own characterful pattern. The existing nicks give it its antique charm and provide interest for display making it all the more collectible. Also available in a medium size to create an impressive set for a garden display.
