Large Antique Plate with Circular Design
A large antique plate with a very striking hand painted design. Dating back to the late 1800s this plate is a unique example of local Pugliese pottery, and would have taken pride of place in a family home and primarily used to serve a family during meal times. This hand thrown piece stands out not only because of its extra large size, but also the wonderful hand painted circular motif in ink blue that gives the platter an almost modern feel with an abstract sensibility. The large plate has that magical rustic patina that can only be brought about authentically by the passing of time and years of daily use. This farmhouse-style piece would make a lovely addition to a kitchen bench top or table setting, especially when pared with the matching ceramic jug and bowl, as seen in the photos.
Found in Martina Franca
the town in the valle d’Itria with notable examples of baroque architecture.
Dimensions: H5.5cm x W35cm x D35cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
