€150.00
Sold

A large antique plate hand-thrown in terracotta with a delicately scalloped edge and a soft buttermilk glaze. Traditionally Pugliese in its rustic simplicity, and whilst it is not heavily decorated it has a touch of the Baroque with its gentle scalloping. Dating back to the late 1800s and in use up until the 1950s, the old pottery from Puglia has a rustic handmade, farmhouse feel. Traditionally it would have been used as a serving dish to feed an entire family, where they would have all eaten from the same plate - starting with the father and ending with the children. Today, this piece would make a lovely addition to the kitchen, as decorative display or a great centrepiece on a table for fruit.

Found in Martina Franca

a hilltop town in the Valle d’Itria known for its Baroque architecture.

Dimensions: H6cm x W34cm x D34cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen
