Medium Antique Green Splatter Passata Bowl
Passata Bowls, also known as 'limmi,' originate from Puglia and they take the form of rustic handmade bowls. This medium-sized passata bowl dates back to the late 1800s and was originally used to make tomato passata or to wash fruit and vegetables. The antique bowl features a charming, glazed interior of splattered pesto-hued green over a yellow-hued base. This splatter effect was added to keep insects and flies away from the passata or food. This surface application of the Pugliese limmi was created by hand, meaning each is a unique piece with its own characterful pattern. The rustic bowl has aged beautifully, with the external clay unglazed and on display. The antique vessel is perfect to add some farmhouse charm to a kitchen or tables setting, or as a unique storage vessel. Add impact with the other farmhouse bowls as seen in the images.
