Medium Antique Rustic Vasetto
An antique hand-thrown ‘vasetto’ or confit pot dating back to the mid 1800s, traditionally used for preserving vegetables. anchovies, or sardines in olive oil. The conical-shaped ceramic pot originates from the Pugliese town of Grottaglie, well known for its age-old ceramic craft and tradition. The rustic piece features that magical patina brought about authentically by the passing of time and years of daily use. It has a soft buttermilk glaze with sgraffito banding around the upper edges - where a linen cloth was tied around the top with a rope (around the indents) to keep the insects out of its contents. Today, this confit pot is perfect to add some farmhouse charm to any space and would be ideal as a vase for fresh or dried flowers. Create an impactful display with the matching larger vase as seen in the images.
