Antique Half Glaze Vasetto

€120.00
Sold

Antique hand thrown confit pot that was traditionally used for preserving foods such as anchovies, sardines or olives in olive oil. The vasetti or vases were often topped with a wooden lid or linen cloth tied with rope to keep insects out. This charming pot has a unique, organic surface which has eroded with age to obtain that magic patina that only occurs with use over time. The buttermilk glaze at the top contrasts beautifully with the raw, earthy base. The glaze on the upper part of the confit pot was primarily functional, as opposed to decorative, so that it could be easily wiped clean from drippings and spills. Perfect to add some farmhouse charm, this rustic pot would be ideal as a vase for fresh or dried flowers. Create an impactful display with the matching (larger) vase as seen in the photos.

Found in Lecce

the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.

Dimensions: H18cm x W13cm x D13cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
