A charming hand painted set of x2 bowls that are typical of Pugliese ceramics, with a minimalism that makes them easy to coordinate with any space or setting. Dating back to the late 1800s these antique bowls would have been primarily used by a family at mealtimes. The medium and small bowls feature hand painted ink blue lines in varying widths encircling the rims and centre of the bowls, set against a buttermilk glaze. The old farmhouse pottery from Puglia, like these antique bowls, is thick and robust, and has a lovely handmade, rustic feel. The well loved pieces show their characteristic signs of age with a wonderful patina, and would have been regularly used for domestic purposes up until at least the mid 1900s. This set of bowls would make a lovely addition to the kitchen adding some country charm, especially when pared with the matching plates and bowls, as seen in the images.

Found in Ostuni

the charming hilltop town of the valle d’Itria known as la città bianca (or ‘white city’).

Dimensions: Large Bowl H6cm x W22cm x D22cm / Small Bowl H5cm x W18cm x D18cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
