Set of x2 Antique 'Tree of Life' Pots
This antique set of confit pots dating back to the late 1800s are unique to the southern region of Calabria, and are particularly rare as they are a matching set. With their spirited hand painted decoration in mustard set against the lovely patina of the buttermilk glaze, it is common for such ceramics from the region to depict the tree of life - symbolising good fortune and longevity. These rustic pots have an organic surface which has eroded beautifully over time and were originally used for preserving foods such as anchovies, sardines or olives in olive oil. Today this matching pair of pots would be ideal as vases for fresh flowers or as an elegant symmetrical display that would compliment any home.
Found in Lecce
the capital and baroque jewel of the Salento.
Dimensions: Pot 1 & 2 H23cm x W20cm x D17cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
