Set of x2 Vintage Confit Pots
A vintage set of hand-thrown confit pots dating back to the mid 1900s. Unique with their subtle colour combination that begins from the raw clay at the base, to the buttermilk cream glaze body, and through to the mustard glaze that rims the upper edge. These wonderfully rustic confit pots with unique handles have an organic surface which has eroded beautifully over time and were originally used for preserving foods such as anchovies, sardines or olives in olive oil. The glaze around the rims were applied to wipe clean as a more hygienic surface to the raw clay. Today this matching pair of pots would be ideal as vases for fresh flowers or as an elegant symmetrical display that would compliment any home.
Found in Grottaglie
the small town in the Salento famous for its ceramic craft.
Dimensions: Pot 1 & 2 H31cm x W22cm x D17cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
